Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers groups.
